April 5-14, 2016 Palm Springs CA

We flew out of MPLS on Tuesday morning; arrived in Palm Springs at 12:30 PDT.  Wow it is 96 degrees here!  Step off the plane and there it is.....left winter and walked into summer.
Thanks to Doug and Sandy who let us use their condo.  Flowers on the table, greetings from other Tonsagers,  instructions on how to run the joint.   Neighbors who are willing to help us out if needed. The pool out the back door

Bottle brush bush
Lunch was at Elmers Diner.

Wednesday was still hot so we headed up the mountain on the tramway to see the sights

This is a rotating tram car that goes up to 8000 ft every 10 minutes; goes from the desert environment to snow with changing environment as we rose up.

Relaxing poolside after our return.

Breakfast of fresh grapefruit on the patio.
Supper at the Old Spaghetti Factory.
Thursday we waited for the repair man to fix the dryer.
Watched a movie Penguins of Madadascar on Doug's Netflix (somehow Terry figured that out).
So we can now wash our clothes if we so desire!  Wait, the faucet leaks; so Mr Terry's fixit decided to replace the leaky deal.  A trip to True Value Hardware....(which was on Terry's top 10 list of things to do in California!)
We went to Village Fest the weekly Thursday evening gathering downtown, but didn't go quite far enough so will try and get back there next Thursday.

Palm trees and beautiful flowers. I need to get a picture of the Bougainvillea.  We are at Villas De Las Flores, a private community.

Bougenvillia

Friday :  3 walks:  am around the community, noonish downtown Palm Springs, walk of the stars and various shops, restaurants, evening meal at Las Perlita, Mexican restaurant with excellent fish tacos.
Walmart for supplies.
Sandwiches for lunch.
Total steps: 14595
Total miles: 6.26
Too much walking!  Terry needed to use his heating pad after all that!
And yes, it was a "rainy day". And in the 70s.  I think it rained  0.10".
And we cleaned behind the stove.  It looks much better after our work was done.

Saturday we walked to a waterfall in Tahquitz Canyon.
In order to make the 10000 step goal, we walked around on one
Of the many golf courses.  I think they are all connected, and that golf is
The main reason people come here.  One lady said she comes for the winter
And then back to Oceanside for the summer "it is too hot here" in the summer.

Sunday:  church at Cornerstone Covenant Church in Cathedral City.
Pastor Chris was teaching on Philipians.
Happy Hour with Jan and Karl Shutz.
Lazy day.

Monday
Drove north by the wind farm:
To The Joshua Tree National Monument

(Pictures on camera)

Tuesday:
Went to Coachella Valley Preserve, Oasis in the dessert with many palm trees and pond. San Andreas fault line runs through this area.

It was a much warmer day, into the 80's.
We had lunch downtown Palm Springs at Ruby's.  A diner with great burgers and fries.
Stopped at Vonns for food supplies.

Wednesday April 13
Nice weather for pooling.
Big Fat Greek Wedding at Mary Pickford Theater in Cathedral Canyon. We were the only ones in the 1:55 pm showing!

Wednesday:  Palm Springs Air Museum
Spent some time at the Air Museum.
some interesting exhibits about the ship Dad was on in WWII

Bet Dad was in this picture...somewhere?!

Just relaxed the rest of the day, walked through downtown "Village Fest" and supper at Upper Crust Pizza.
Also cleaned the condo, getting ready to return to SD tomorrow.  The winds are supposed to be blowing both here and home for the weekend.  Hope it blows us home fast!
