Sheldon and Stella 11/06/1949

  1. Mom and Dad in 1949!

    • Mary Hofman Wow, I think Kevin resembles your dad!
    • Cindy Little Lavin Auntie Stella is absolutely beautiful. And Uncle Sheldon is dashing! Thanks for sharing this - I love them so much. : )

    • Sonya Thayer I love old pictures! This is a great one!!!

    • Marian Sunde Wiese Great picture..That looks like it is hand tinted...

    • Cheryl Tomberlin Do you have any idea how my mom and Ginger ended up rooming with your mom in Denver? Do you know any of that part of their history? I'd love to know.

    • Karen Logan I don't know but maybe marylou rembers

    • Karen Logan Cheryl Tomberlin MaryLou Little Lorna Jost
Think Stella lived in a rooming house that both Helen (Harold's wife) and her sister Velma (Ginger) lived in also. They were from Lander, WY and were working in Denver too. Helen married Harold and Ginger
married Leonard (Miller-f) our cousin in a double wedding. Remember I had to loan Harold a little money for his honeymoon (not much I'm sure) and they all honeymooned together! Didn't cost a whole lot to go to Salt Lake City (I think that's where they went) in those days. Not like going to Jamaica or Hawaii would cost now.
Good to see you yesterday and Abby and the girls. Bet you'll find lots of good reasons to journey to Wtn in the future?
Stella was responsible for bringing another roommate home who married Robert Miller (another Miller family) whose name was Verna.
Hope my memory isn't too far off in trying to answer your question.
      Love from Auntie ML

1947 Pontiac Convertible. Don (Dad) and Sheldon (Uncle) courting Mary Lou (Mom) and her sister Stella (Auntie) after they escorted brother Frank to California. They swung back thru Denver and met their future wives. Mom and Dad in front, Aunt Stella/Uncle Sheldon in the back. Mighty fine looking ride!

Busy weekend June 14,15 2014

Thursday, Lee and Larry, and Ian stayed here...they flew in to Des Moines, road trip into Wisconsin to search for a Cerulean Warbler, then here and we all went to Watertown on Friday for some family time.   Friday I came home so I could work; Lee and Larry drove to New Castle to visit Michaels family for a day, then to Denver to fly back to Seattle.
Saturday was moving day for the Browns.  Fourth move since 2010, this time to Watertown where they purchased their first home.  We were able to load after some rain showers, and then unload before more rain.  Thanks to Gordon and Kathy for the use of the trailer, Ian and Kyle for helping load, the Markers for helping at both ends, Carina and Jessica and Brianna for helping unload and clean the kitchen.
Cari planned to be around but was stuck in Oklahoma after finishing Camp Noah in Norman,OK.  Cancelled flights, weather problems...
Sunday we were in Sioux Falls by 0800 for church and dedication of grandson Mnason, then off to Lake Norden to visit with Uncle Floyd and honor Clarice on their wedding anniversary.
Back to work Monday...to relax?.

Nursing "humor"

had to share my experience at Lewis drug last evening:
After waiting and waiting I went up to the desk and asked if HB's meds were ready.
First question: "How many are you expecting?"
I heard:  "are you expecting"
Reply:  "what? no I'm not expecting!"

Second question:
new guy comes over and asks me if I understand that my  Lanoxin dose has changed.
Reply:  it is for my patient, I understand the change
My comment to all:  I come out to Lewis and you guys have me pregnant and on
 Lanoxin!
Marlin B turns around and says:  "that's a hell of a combination!"
